TotalEnergies Joined Forces with TES to Develop e-Natural Gas Production Unit

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): France-headquartered TotalEnergies has joined forces with Tree Energy Solutions (TES) to develop a large-scale e-natural gas (e-NG) production unit in the U.S.

The joint venture project will be equally owned by TotalEnergies and TES and operated by TotalEnergies. The partnership will utilize e-NG know-how of TES and the vast expertise of TotalEnergies in renewable power generation, large-scale project management and natural gas liquefaction. The unit will have capacity to produce 100,000 to 200,000 metric tons of e-NG per year.

The production of e-NG will be achieved in two steps. In the first step, electrolyzer powered by wind and solar energy supplied by TotalEnergies will produce renewable hydrogen. In the next step, this renewable hydrogen will then be combined with biogenic carbon dioxide to obtain e-NG.

The two partners aim to carry out preliminary studies on the project. A Final Investment Decision (FID) is expected by next year.

Stephane Michel, President, Gas, Renewables & Power, TotalEnergies noted that it is pleased to partner with TES to pioneer the development of the e-NG industry.

The strategic cooperation with TotalEnergies is an important milestone towards large-scale e-NG production, said Marco Alvera, CEO, TES.

e-NG is a synthetic gas produced from renewable hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
