SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The Henry Hub natural gas spot price projection for this year has been lowered in the most recent Short Term Energy Outlook (STEO) report released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The Henry Hub spot price is predicted to average $4.12 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) this year, per the research. This contrasts with the previous report, which was released in April of this year, which predicted $4.27 per MMBtu in 2025.

The Henry Hub natural gas spot price projection for 2026 was raised by the EIA. The May STEO predicts that next year's average commodity costs will be $4.80 per MMBtu. This is more than the $4.60 per MMBtu prediction made in the April report.

The STEO report noted that the Henry Hub natural gas spot price are expected to average $3.46 per MMBtu in the second quarter of 2025, $4.19 per MMBtu in the third quarter, $4.68 per MMBtu in the fourth quarter, $5.10 per MMBtu in the first quarter of next year, $4.35 per MMBtu in Q2 2026, $4.84 per MMBtu in Q3 2026, and $4.89 per MMBtu in Q4 next year. It must be noted that the Henry Hub spot price fell to $3.44 per MMBtu in April, down 68 cents per MMBtu from the March average.

According to the EIA, rising U.S. exports and seasonal increases in demand from the electric power industry will drive up natural gas prices in the upcoming months.
