Equinor Secures Long-Term Gas Supply Deal with Czech Utility Prazska Plynarenska

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Equinor has entered into a decade-long natural gas supply agreement with Czech energy provider Prazska plynarenska, ensuring stable fuel supply for households and commercial consumers across Prague and other regions of the Czech Republic. The gas will be utilized for heating, electricity generation, and natural gas distribution throughout the country.

Gas deliveries under the contract have already begun and are scheduled to continue until October 1, 2035, with supplies routed through the Czech gas hub. Both companies declined to reveal details regarding contract volumes and pricing, stating that the terms remain confidential.

The long-term partnership is expected to enhance the security and reliability of energy supplies for Prazska plynarenska’s customer base at a time when Europe is focused on strengthening energy independence.

Equinor CEO Anders Opedal emphasized that the deal aligns with the company’s broader European strategy, noting that Equinor has secured multiple long-term gas contracts across the continent in recent years. He expressed enthusiasm about supporting energy needs in Prague and expanding collaboration with Czech customers.

Historically, Equinor has focused on markets in Northwest Europe and the United Kingdom, but over the past decade it has broadened its reach to the Baltics and Poland, and now sees growing opportunities in Central and Southern Europe.
