Fuel Oil Delivery

• Fuel oil (No. 2 home heating oil) is the most popular product that we deliver. No. 2 home heating oil is essentially the same product as diesel fuel, but it is dyed red to distinguish it from road-use motor vehicle fuel, which is subject to taxes that do not apply to home heating fuels. Nearly all domestic oil-burning furnaces on the market are made specifically to burn No. 2 oil.
• Kerosene is considered a specialty product. It is a more heavily-refined product than No. 2 home heating oil. Homes with outside tanks benefit the most from the use of kerosene, because kerosene continues to flow smoothly at a lower temperature than fuel oil.
• This is a mix of 50% fuel oil and 50% kerosene. Blend is mostly used to gain some of the benefits of kerosene while avoiding the full cost, although some homeowners simply prefer the way it burns in their furnaces. Blended fuel has a lower gelling temperature, although for systems where fuel lines or tanks are directly exposed to the cold, kerosene is recommended during the coldest parts of the year.
• When untreated, fuel oil will solidify (gel) at very low temperatures, which can cause the furnace to shut off. Mobile homes and outside tanks are therefore highly susceptible to gelling at low temperatures, since the tanks and lines are often outside and exposed to the cold. ABC can add Hot Shot Heating Oil Treatment to your delivery for a charge of $15.50 per tank. This multipurpose product is good for water dispersal, gelling control, fuel stabilization, and combustion efficiency.
