From its humble beginnings hauling coal on the Kentucky River more than 100 years ago, ACBL has grown into one of the largest and most diversified marine transportation services companies in the nation.  With a fleet of approximately 4,200 barges, powered by 175 towboats, ACBL is one America's largest liquid cargo and dry cargo barge lines.   Headquartered in Jeffersonville, Indiana, ACBL employs nearly 3,700 teammates and our Transportation Services unit operates fleets and terminals throughout the inland waterways network.  Our manufacturing division, Jeffboat, is located on the Ohio River also in Jeffersonville. Jeffboat is one of the nation's largest inland shipbuilders.  In December 2010, ACBL was purchased by Platinum Equity, a global acquisiton firm headquartered in Los Angeles that specializes in mergers, acquisitions, and operations of companies that provide mission-critical products, services, and solutions in diverse industries.  With the extensive resources and operational expertise of Platinum Equity, ACBL is moving full speed ahead on course for the future.
