Our retail arm, altE Store, services Do-It-Yourselfers, Off-Griders, hobbyists, and students with superb knowledge and friendliness, while our wholesale division, altE Direct, provides personal service and expertise to professional installers and system integrators.

Real Goods Acquisition

altE acquired the Real Goods solar business in September 2019. The sales and customer support personnel from Real Goods have joined the altE team. Real Goods – now powered by altE - will continue to promote, sell, inventory, ship, and support solar energy solutions out of its California location. New to the acquisition, Real Goods will also begin offering competitive programs for professional solar installers on the West coast, with expanded inventory and distributor pricing. Envisioned as a one-stop-shop to meet all the needs of remote homesteaders, the store began with the sale of the first ever retail solar panel in the United States. In 1982 Real Goods published the Solar Living Sourcebook, the definitive resource for off-the-grid living, renewable energy, green building, homesteading, and all things sustainable.

The altE Team

Our technical sales folks are some of the best trained in our neck of the industry. Nearly all of our sales staff has taken the NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam, and every one that has, has passed.   Throughout the year our sales folks not only stay sharp by attending technical and national code trainings but also participate in installations. Occasionally, youll even find our guys running experiments on renewable energy gear in the mysterious altE Labs.  We love renewable energy, its benefit to our planet and our customers. Our goal is to help all of our customers design, select, buy and install renewable energy systems safely and successfully.
