About Company

Automated Mudlogging Systems™ provides portable mudlogging units for both unmanned and manned use.  Automated Mudlogging Systems was incorporated in 1983.  We are dedicated to providing professional individualized service to the oil and gas industry.  Other services include both geologic and engineering well-site supervision and consulting.  Geographic areas of expertise include the Rocky Mountain Region, the Mid Continent Region, FSU countries, Texas and Romania.

Our services

Other services include both geologic and engineering wellsite supervision and consulting provided by our experienced, professional staff. Wellsite geologic services include picking total depth drilled, geo steering, witnessing open hole logging operations, open hole log analysis, correlation, picking core points, core description, picking Drill Stem Test intervals and visual sample examination. Supervising drilling, BOP testing, logging, coring, Drill Stem Testing, running casing, cementing and completions are some of the wellsite engineering services offered.  Automated Mudlogging Systems provides portable mudlogging units for both unmanned and manned use. Advances in process control and computer technology offer a low cost alternative to conventional mudlogging without sacrificing quality or service.  Automated Mudlogging Systems can be used when conventional mudlogging is cost prohibitive. A few of the reasons for using Automated Mudlogging Systems are: verifying correlations and depth drilled; reducing costly daywork by ordering out casing and cement while open hole logging; evaluating reservoirs in directional, horizontal or problem holes where open hole logs may not reach bottom; and supplementing open hole log data in hard to interpret reservoirs such as coals, shaley sands, low porosity carbonates, fractured zones and low resistivity pays.

Automated Mudlogging Systems provides the following:

  • a penetration rate log for correlation
  • a total gas log
  • chromatographic gas analysis
  • fail safe operation
  • drilled depth and true vertical depth logs
  • data telemetried into your office daily or on demand
  • a L.A.S. (Log ASCII Standard) mudlog file
  • CO2 and H2S detection
  • sample descriptions
  • interpretation of results and log analysis
  • a standard mudlog presentation
  • custom scales and presentation
  • a Compensated Gamma Ray Mudlog
  • Gas Referencing TM available
  • a GRI/Texaco gas trap is available
  • all data gathered is immediately displayed for rig personnel
  • unobtrusive operation
  • gas alarms and warning signals
  • fully insured

The following standard mudlog (originally five inches per one hundred feet) is only one of the formats capable of being presented by Automated Mudlogging Systems.  Drilling statistics show five percent of all wildcat wells are drilled to zones above existing producing fields. Shallow pool wildcat wells have the highest success ratio of any type of wildcat well. Over fifty percent of shallow pool wildcat wells are completed as producers. By measuring hydrocarbons directly, Automated Mudlogging Systems will find oil and gas in subtle, difficult and unconventional traps which can be easily missed.

State of the art equipment

Automated Mudlogging Systems’ equipment is state of the art and specifically designed for trouble free operation. The following features assure top quality performance:

  • all major systems are redundant, extremely reliable, and continuously calibrated assuring high quality data
  • the equipment has been used for many years and is thoroughly field tested
  • drilling breaks in drilling as fast as a tenth of a minute per foot can easily be detected
  • gas sensors will not “saturate” and have a large dynamic range
  • a data telemetry system allows the monitoring of the drilling operation on a daily, as needed, or continuous basis
  • data can be telemetried via cellular telephone, inmarsat or rig radio
  • ups (uninterruptible power supply) provides power to the mudlogging unit when the rig generator is being serviced or repaired
  • ups provides power for mudlogging on rigs where electrical generators are not used
  • the mudlogging unit accepts power from all domestic and international voltages
  • a gas sampling system continuously monitors and adjusts for plugging and blockage
  • a strip chart record of depth, penetration rate, and total gas provides rig personnel with up to date information
  • a patented compensated gamma ray mudlog provides a correlation gamma ray while drilling
  • a computer processed mudlog is available prior to open hole logging so that shows can be efficiently evaluated on the spot
  • a patented sample snorkel gas trap is available
  • gas referencing™ is available by license from randall amen
  • a gas research institute/texaco gas trap is available by license from texaco development corporation
