It all started in 1962 when Janet and Leonard Bruso Jr. opened the doors to Bay State Fuel Oil, Inc. Back then it was a small operation running out of their home office delivering quality home heating oil to their friends and neighbors throughout Western Massachusetts. In 1965, however, their small home office was moved and expanded, now providing heating service as well as oil delivery. This dynamic duo had made such an impact on their customers that Leonard Jr. created and presided over the Western Massachusetts Fuel Dealers Association, heading the group for five years.  In 1985, Bay State expanded again. This time they purchased Ortolani Oil which doubled the size of their business. With this expansion also came increased customer services, such as a price-lock option for heating oil prices. This expansion continued the next 15 years as Bay State acquired twelve other fuel companies and furthering their reach throughout Western Mass.  It wasn’t until 2000 that Leonard Jr. and Janet decided to sell Bay State to their children—Leonard III and Laura—and to finally retire. Since then, Leonard III and Laura have continued the tradition of expansion and unbeatable customer service to all of their customers.  In the future, Bay State will continue to be a leader in home heating oil delivery and home comfort services. With more and more innovations and technological advances, we look forward to helping Western Massachusetts become more environmentally-friendly while also saving money on their fuel costs.

Bay State Fuel Oil, Inc. understands the stress involved in making sure that your family has enough heating oil to stay warm. For that reason, we have created an automatic delivery plan whereby you no longer have to check you heating oil levels to provide you with enough fuel.  With automatic delivery, we account the size of your house, the number of people living there, the weather, and your heating preferences to estimate when you may need a fuel delivery. When this day arrives, Bay State simply sends a fuel delivery truck to your home. You don’t have to concern yourself with phone calls, schedules, or running down to the basement to check your fuel levels.  Did we mention this incredible service is offered at no additional cost? Bioheat

At Bay State Fuel Oil, we’ve always been dedicated to providing Western Massachusetts residents with clean, high-quality heating oil for your comfort, safety, and savings. We’re proud to announce that each gallon of fuel we deliver is now eco-friendly Bioheat!  Bioheat is a renewable fuel produced by combining standard #2 heating oil with reusable resources like plant oils and recycled grease. As biofuels become a new standard for home heating, it’s important to us that we keep you informed.
