BLUE MOON EXPLORATION COMPANY(BMEC) WAS FOUNDED IN 1994 WITH THE PURPOSE OF EXPLORING FOR OIL & GAS PRIMARILY IN THE GULF COAST REGION.
BMEC blends state of the art technology with good old fashioned oil business techniques to high grade their prospect inventory and increase their success rate. Our staff has extensive exploration experience both with major oil companies as well as a host of successful independent oil companies.
Michel J. Bechtel Co-Founder, President and Managing Partner
Mr. Bechtel has more than 45 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and 32+ years as an Independent managing his own exploration companies. Prior to founding Blue Moon Exploration in 1994 and Bechtel Exploration in 1984, his experience includes being Vice President of Exploration for Weaver Exploration, an Exploration Geologist for ODECO, and Geologist for U.S. Geological Survey and Pan Am Petroleum/ Amoco. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Houston Geological Society, and New Orleans Geological Society. Mr. Bechtel holds a B.S. in Geology & Geophysics from Louisiana State University of New Orleans and a M.S. in Petroleum Geology from the University of New Orleans.
Thomas A. McWhorter Co-Founder, Vice President, and Managing Partner
Mr. McWhorter has more than 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to founding Blue Moon Exploration and Martex Exploration in 1994, he managed the Exploration Division for Michael T. Halbouty Energy Company, was a Geological Consultant for Kriti Exploration and was a Senior Geologist with Exxon. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Houston Geological Society, and New Orleans Geological Society. Mr. McWhorter holds a B.S. in Geology from Nicholls State and a M.S. from the University of Tennessee.

BMEC operates in Texas, Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. BMEC is located in Houston, Texas, but has numerous strategic relationships with independents, consulting firms and law offices located in Louisiana. BMEC and its staff are highly respected in the industry for combining complete subsurface and engineering interpretations with the 2D and 3D seismic data. The company uses state-of-the-art software packages such as SMT s Kingdom Suite, Larson Graphics and the Microsoft Office Suite to interpret, organize and present its prospects to prospective partners.
