Comanche Exploration Company is an independent oil and gas company based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Founded in 1987, Comanche and its affiliated companies are owned by the Blair family, whose members have been engaged in oil & gas exploration in Oklahoma for more than 60 years.  Today, multiple generations of the family are involved in the business.  Comanche has a very experienced senior staff with a combined 200 years of E&P experience.  For the past five years, Comanche has been developing its acreage holdings in Oklahoma’s STACK Play and to date, has drilled more than 40 horizontal STACK wells.  Comanche is focused on developing its STACK assets and the supporting infrastructure and plans to keep two drilling rigs active in the STACK play. 

History & Operations

Comanche was founded in 1987 as a producing property acquisition company.  With the addition of technical staff, Comanche began developing exploration prospects in 1990.  Comanche and its affiliates have drilled and operated more than 400 wells in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.  In 2000, Comanche formed Hawthorn Energy Partners, L.L.C. with a group of Texas partners.   In 2002, Hawthorn became a wholly owned subsidiary of Comanche and serves as Comanche’s exploration and production arm for all operations conducted in Texas.
