About Company

History

Dairyland is proud of its history as a pioneer in rural electrification. The generation and transmission cooperative formed in 1941, bringing light and power to the homes and farms in “America’s Dairyland.” Specifically serving rural communities and countryside, Dairyland continues to ease work conditions and improve quality of life for residents by delivering a safe, reliable supply of energy in its four-state service territory.

Mission

We will power our communities and empower cooperative members to improve the quality of their lives.

Vision

To exceed member expectations as a safe, sustainable, premier power cooperative.

Values

Our members are the reason for our existence. We will provide our members with value in the form of safe, reliable sustainable and competitively-priced electricity. We will build strong relationships with our member cooperatives, employees and all stakeholders. We will live the cooperative principles and hold ourselves true to our core values of accountability, integrity, innovation and commitment to community.

Renewable Energy Resources

Dairyland’s renewable energy resources include hydro, wind, biomass and solar. Member cooperatives promote renewable energy to their consumer-members through Evergreen, a voluntary program in which members can choose to support Dairyland’s renewable energy resources.  Dairyland’s commitment to renewable resources grows each year, with new projects coming online regularly.

Consumer-owned renewable energy

Dairyland’s member cooperatives have experienced a considerable increase in consumer-owned distributed generation installations recently, thanks to favorable economics and decreased manufacturing costs. Dairyland works with our member cooperatives on policies that help enable the development of consumer-owned renewable energy projects including wind turbines and photovoltaic arrays (solar).  Over 300 consumer-owned distribution generation installations are located throughout Dairyland’s service territory.  Dairyland is also a leader in the National Renewables Cooperative Organization(link is external), a national cooperative to develop cost-effective renewable energy resources for electric cooperatives across the nation.
