EnerSys started as a control systems integration company providing automation, SCADA and measurement solutions to oil and gas operations. For more than 19 years, EnerSys and its founder Russel Treat, have been well known in the oil and gas industry though our participation in events such as ASGMT, ENTELEC, ISHM, and on API and AGA committees.

In 2007, EnerSys realized that change was coming to pipeline control rooms in the form of a new federal regulatory requirement from the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) requiring pipeline operators to put formal control room management (CRM) programs in place. Our research into the proposed PHMSA CRM rule lead us to form relationships with experts outside the pipeline industry to learn from their process industry best practices and adapt them to the unique requirements of pipeline operations.
