About Company

Our people really care. Federated employees are often called high quality, friendly, professional, knowledgeable. They’re good people and they’re your neighbors, too. That’s a major point that differentiates Federated Co-ops from other businesses today. We live alongside you and we take a personal interest in your life.  We offer our customers trusted products. Federated sells only dependable, safe, durable products and we deliver top value for your money. On top of that, you can always trust us to stand behind our products and services.

No matter what changes and challenges you face, you can always count on your co-op as a reliable source of the products you need at a reasonable price. We negotiate the wholesale prices and handle the logistics to make sure farmers have a reliable source of fertilizer and other production inputs so they can concentrate on producing food. And as the 18th largest propane company in the U.S., we procure and store enough propane to ensure that your home, shop or farm has the energy it needs.

Why Should I Become a Customer

  • We’re owned and controlled by our customers and operated for their benefit. ANYONE can trade with this co-op.
  • Since we’re owned by the people who do business with us, we’re not going to pick up and leave as soon as the economic winds change.
  • Our employees are your friends and neighbors.
  • Our knowledgeable, well-trained employees offer a high level of service.
  • The high-quality agronomy, energy, and lifestyle products we handle are trusted brands that are safe and reliable
  • We care about patrons, customers, and employees.

Federated has a proud history of service and reliability in supplying gasoline and diesel fuel for our farmer customers and heating oil for homeowners. We continue to invest in storage equipment and exception fleet trucks.  We also shifted our petroleum division to improve efficiency and reliability by combining three bulk refined-fuels plants into a single facility at Ogilvie. Facilities in Pine City and the upgraded Cambridge location add efficiency, including tanks for biofuels, and they also meet current environmental requirements. To broaden customer options, we’ve expanded product capability to supply E-85 gasoline as well as biodiesel in bulk. Federated works hard to make sure our bulk fuel customers are equipped with correct size tanks because we can offer them better pricing if we make less trips to deliver the fuel they need.  We were a big blender of soy-based products but soy-diesel has been crimped by high soybean prices and extreme world demand, particularly in China. We always try to keep customers informed about opportunities such as pre-buy.

Although energy costs have been rising for decades, until recently there were predictable seasonal peaks and valleys. We could save customers money by helping them avoid the price spikes. In today’s volatile markets, escalating world demand has reduced traditional seasonal predictability. We do not promise bargain prices because there are none. However, we do provide secure supplies and stability. Managers of your Federated Propane and Petroleum Divisions apply effective procurement strategies and logistics to assure customers a constant supply of fuel and lubricant products.
