About Company

Florida Solar Energy (FSE), LLC is a renewable infrastructure development company focused on building commercial and utility scale solar photovoltaic power plants in the United States.  The company has a strategic partnerships with European partners with a proven record of development and successful completion of multiple large scale utility scale photovoltaic solar projects in Spain, totaling over $300M in PV construction for 2008 alone.   FSE is interested in developing utility scale photovoltaic solar power plants at US installations utilizing the proven techniques that our partners have successfully implemented.  Our experience in developing and financing low cost, high yield, and reliable solar power plants makes us an ideal partner for developing new clean power sources for the US infrastructure.

Solar Energy

Solar energy is the light and radiant heat from the Sun that influences Earth's climate and weather and sustains life. Solar power is sometimes used as a synonym for solar energy or more specifically to refer to electricity generated from solar radiation. Since ancient times solar energy has been harnessed for human use through a range of technologies. Solar radiation along with secondary solar resources such as wind and wave power, hydroelectricity and biomass account for most of the available flow of renewable energy on Earth.    A WHOLE NEW WORLD OF SOLAR POWER Renewable energy Wind Turbine Biofuels • Biomass • Geothermal Hydro power • Solar power • Tidal power Wave power • Wind power   Solar energy technologies can provide electrical generation by heat engine or photovoltaic means, space heating and cooling in active and passive solar buildings; potable water via distillation and disinfection, daylighting, hot water, thermal energy for cooking, and high temperature process heat for industrial purposes.

Solar Panel

In the field of photovoltaics, a photovoltaic module or photovoltaic panel is a packaged interconnected assembly of photovoltaic cells, also known as solar cells. An installation of photovoltaic modules or panels is known as a photovoltaic array. Photovoltaic cells typically require protection from the environment. For cost and practicality reasons a number of cells are connected electrically and packaged in a photovoltaic module, while a collection of these modules that are mechanically fastened together, wired, and designed to be a field-installable unit, sometimes with a glass covering and a frame and backing made of metal, plastic or fiberglass, are known as a photovoltaic panel or simply solar panel. A photovoltaic installation typically includes an array of photovoltaic modules or panels, an inverter,batteries (for off grid) and interconnection wiring.

In order to use the cells in practical applications, they must be:

  • connected electrically to one another and to the rest of the system
  • protected from mechanical damage during manufacture, transport and installation and use (in particular against hail impact, wind and snow loads). This is especially important for wafer-based silicon cells which are brittle.
  • protected from moisture, which corrodes metal contacts and interconnects, (and for thin-film cells the transparent conductive oxide layer) thus decreasing performance and lifetime.
  • electrically insulated including under rainy conditions
  • mountable on a substructure or building integrated.

 

PHOTOVOLTAICS

A solar cell, or photovoltaic cell (PV), is a device that converts light into direct current using the photoelectric effect. The first solar cell was constructed by Charles Fritts in the 1880s.[69] Although the prototype selenium cells converted less than 1% of incident light into electricity, both Ernst Werner von Siemens and James Clerk Maxwell recognized the importance of this discovery.[70] Following the work of Russell Ohl in the 1940s, researchers Gerald Pearson, Calvin Fuller and Daryl Chapin created the silicon solar cell in 1954.[71] These early solar cells cost 286 USD/watt and reached efficiencies of 4.5–6%.[72]    11 MW Serpa solar power plant in Portugal.   The earliest significant application of solar cells was as a back-up power source to the Vanguard I satellite in 1958, which allowed it to continue transmitting for over a year after its chemical battery was exhausted.[73] The successful operation of solar cells on this mission was duplicated in many other Soviet and American satellites, and by the late 1960s, PV had become the established source of power for them.[74]. Photovoltaics went on to play an essential part in the success of early commercial satellites such as Telstar, and they remain vital to the telecommunications infrastructure today.[75]   The high cost of solar cells limited terrestrial uses throughout the 1960s. This changed in the early 1970s when prices reached levels that made PV generation competitive in remote areas without grid access. Early terrestrial uses included powering telecommunication stations, off-shore oil rigs, navigational buoys and railroad crossings.[76] These off-grid applications have proven very successful and accounted for over half of worldwide installed capacity until 2004.[42]

Photoelectric Effect

The photoelectric effect is a quantum electronic phenomenon in which electrons are emitted from matter after the absorption of energy from electromagnetic radiation such as x-rays or visible light.[1] The emitted electrons can be referred to as photoelectrons in this context. The effect is also termed the Hertz Effect,[2][3] due to its discovery by Heinrich Rudolf Hertz, although the term has generally fallen out of use
