Incorporated in 2010, our individual experience dates back to the solar hot water days of the late seventies.  Having installed hundreds of solar electric and hot water systems in the greater Sacramento region since 2000 we are the go-to company for all of your local solar needs.  We are California natives and were committed to renewable energy and to our local community. We practice energy conservation and we use renewable energy in our homes. We know Solar because we LIVE Solar.

Our Background:

Mike Hulett began his passion for solar in 1978 as a technician with a small solar installation company. In 1982 he was offered employment with a major solar manufacturer which furthered his knowledge in the industry. After two years he decided to work for himself, opening a service company which provided warranty repairs for two major solar manufacturers. For a period of ten years his focus was in large scale commercial construction, working with an engineering contractor. In 2000, he and his wife Kelly Hulett created KLM General and Engineering Contractors, Inc. Since then KLM has installed hundreds of solar electric and solar hot water systems in Northern California. As part of their commitment to the environment they have planted over 13,000 trees in the California Sierra Nevada mountains. 

Kelly Hulett graduated in 1987 with a degree in accounting. While in school & after graduating she worked for a small locally owned business, later being promoted to office manager. While raising her children, she was involved in her familys construction business, preforming all phases of the office function and assisting in field operation management. In 2000 with her husband Mike Hulett created KLM General and Engineering Contractors, Inc.

Solar Electric

Also know as Photovoltaics (PV), which is the technical name of the panels that turn the energy from the suns rays into DC electicity. The most typical PV applications, and the one that qualifies for the most incentive money are whats known as grid-tied systems. These systems are hooked directly to the power grid and use the grid as a giant 100% efficient battery. They sell excess power back to the utility at the same price that the utility charges you. Heres a good illustration of a typical grid-tied residential system.

Solar Hot Water

Also known as Solar Domestic Hot Water (SDHW) Solar Hot Water systems are kind of the “no brainer” of solar. They offer substantially lower cost than typical solar electric systems while reducing green house gas emissions similar to solar electric. Theyre easy to install and youll start seeing savings right away. Once you see how good you feel with your solar hot water system, youll be looking for other ways to reduce your use of utility energy.
