Horizon Technology is a leading manufacturer of automated sample preparation systems for the analysis of organic compounds in aqueous samples and Oil & Grease testing. Labs who test for Semi-Volatile Organics, Oil & Grease, DROs, TPH, Pesticides, PAH's, Explosives, Pharmaceutical By-Products and Personal Care Products have found our, automated sample preparation systems for solid phase extraction, evaporation and drying increase productivity, improve the accuracy of their results and lower operating costs.
Horizon Technology understands that application and technical notes help you to better understand how our equipment works. You can see how samples similar to your own are handled and how the results compare to methods you may be currently using.
SPE DISK APPLICATIONS
Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) has been around for more than 20 years. Over the course of time it has become a well-accepted technology for the extraction of semi and nonvolatile analytes from environmental matrices such as drinking, ground and wastewater. SPE Disks, rather than cartridges, are a good choice when larger samples, such as those over 100 mL are used. When samples contain large amounts of particulate matter, disks provide an advantage in that the large surface area and small particle size allow the sample to flow through the solid-phase disk material more efficiently.
The SPE-DEX 4790 for semi and nonvolatiles and SPE-DEX 3000 for Oil and Grease analytes can help in the automation of the SPE, reducing the amount of solvent used, reducing labor and improving reproducibility.
