The International WaterCentre (IWC) provides education and training, applied research and knowledge services to implement a whole-of-water cycle approach and develop capacity in integrated water resource management.
Integrated water management approach for:
Sustainable urban communities
Healthy river basins
Water, sanitation and hygiene
Integrated approach
IWC sees integrated water management (IWM) as a process which promotes the coordinated development and management of water, land and related resources to maximise the economic, social and ecological values in an equitable and sustainable manner.
IWM places a strong emphasis on collaboration between all stakeholders, including the community. Being process focussed, IWM is concerned with stimulating and managing change within the water sector and other sectors in which water plays a role.
IWC builds capacity to drive change in these sectors by generating knowledge to inform change. IWC's IWM expertise focuses on three thematic areas: water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); sustainable urban communities; and healthy river basins.
