About Company

Each year, millions of tons of agribusiness waste are sent to landfills or sold as low-cost animal feed. Tremendous value – in the form of biochemical and material building blocks present in that waste – is lost. Inventure Renewables develops process technologies for the rapid, low-cost, high yield extraction of these valuable materials, from oleochemicals to biodiesel, whether you process corn, soft oil seeds, cellulose or livestock. Our patented processes help you turn waste streams into green revenue streams.

Process Technologies for Adding
Value to Waste Biomass

Founded in 2006, Inventure Renewables identifies and solves problems, problems that others have a difficult time unraveling. Our primary mission is helping agri-business, oleo-chemical and biofuel companies find ways to turn waste products and by-products into value-added materials to increase overall profitability, and have pioneered many processes toward these ends. As a discovery company, we do not apply the same solution to every problem, as all problems are unique. Instead, we provide customized, cost-effective solutions—and frequently discover impressive hidden value for customers. Inventure clients include leaders in the agri-business and oleo-chemical industries. The company holds a number of patents on its processes. We have successfully scaled our technology from pilot to large commercial, including a recently completed $60 million client project. Inventure is headquartered in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In 2017, we began manufacturing our own branded bio-based oleo chemicals utilizing a client by-product stream.  This allowed the client to focus on its core business while we help them monetize a problem. In early 2018, we launched TASC Labs, an analytical services company that works closely with clients to identify problems and determine the best testing packages for their analytical needs. Inventure Renewables is a wholly-owned subsidiary of its holding company, Inventure International (Pte) Limited.

Flexible. Cost-Efficient. High Value.

Inventure Renewables has developed a number of patented processes for converting waste agricultural biomass and other low value materials into high value building blocks for biofuels, biochemicals and biomaterials.

Mixed Super Critical Fluid Technology

Our patented Mixed Super Critical Fluid processing technology allows for the fast and cost-efficient conversion of agribusiness waste to nutraceutical/specialty/fine bio-chemicals and bio-diesel, without the use of expensive and unfriendly reagents and catalysts (including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and sodium methoxide). We can process a wide variety of feedstocks, including low grade sources with high fatty acid content–refined and unrefined oils, fatty acid distillates, distillers corn oil and waste cooking oils. In some cases, Inventure processes can generate the same known material or chemical intermediate using waste or by-product materials generating a 25-50% cost savings.  Inventure’s process solutions can be easily integrated into the back end of most processing plants and tailored to specific processing needs and opportunities, and blends with plant capacity of produced biodiesel ranging from 3 MMgal/yr to 150 MMgal/yr.  A recent Inventure commercial project in China is using MSCF to process a mixture of soybean and rapeseed fatty acid distillate (FAD) with a saponifiable content around 85%. The capacity is designed for 30 metric tons per day of FAD, with the main goal of recovering and purifying the valuable unsaponifiables in FAD, specifically tocopherol (Vitamin E) and sterols. The plant also produces 10 Metric Tons of biodiesel annually and a splitter crude grade glycerin (> 82% glycerol with remainder being water).

Sponsored Research

Inventure’s chemical engineers are frequently engaged to develop and commercialize customized solutions to generate more value from the waste inherent in agricultural processing and other industrial endeavors. These include:

  • Catalyst development
  • Continuous chromatography
  • Reactive distillations
  • Rare earth element recovery
  • Complex laboratory testing

Biomass Technology

Inventure can process a variety of low value agricultural waste biomass (including corn stover, cane bagasse and empty fruit bunch) to produce a host of high value materials: dissolving pulp (including viscose, ether, acetate); complex sugars (for ethanol, butanol and chemical intermediates) and lignin. Our bio-refinery technology combines the Mixed Super Critical Fluid and Soap Carbonate processes to increase the value of agri-business residue many fold.
