History

Koppy’s history began when founder Harry C. Romberger began to deliver propane cylinders from his general store to valued regional customers in 1944.  In the mid 1950s Harry passed his business on to his daughter Helen and her husband, Carlos Koppenhaver. The propane business continued to grow under the couple’s care, and in 1965 they expanded their business to the Williams Valley by adding a store in Tower City, Pennsylvania.  In 1972, Helen and Carlos’ son David joined the family business, and under his leadership, the company grew rapidly. In 1984, Koppy’s Propane, Inc. added its first propane transport to its truck fleet to better serve the company’s growing customer base. In 1989, Koppy’s Propane, Inc. moved to its current headquarters in Williamstown, Pennsylvania.  Since the move to Williamstown, Koppy’s Propane, Inc. has experienced tremendous growth, making several acquisitions and adding five storage facilities to become one of the largest independent family-owned propane suppliers in Pennsylvania.

We can tell you, based on your number of appliances and estimated use, how often you will need deliveries.  If this is the case, we can put you on our automatic delivery schedule. Our computer system tracks how much fuel your home or business will typically use based on how cold it is outside. We will deliver fuel automatically to you, usually when your tank gets to be 25-30% full. The result: No more run-outs, no more calling for a delivery and no more waiting for the truck to arrive.
