NEXT Renewable Fuels turns recycled organic materials, such as used cooking oil, into an advanced biofuel that works just like petroleumâ€based diesel, but with as much as 85 percent less greenhouse gas emissions. With our development and technology partners, NEXT Renewable Fuels provides the renewable transportation fuels the future demands.
NEXT Advanced Biofuels
A true dropâ€in replacement fuel, NEXT Renewable Fuels are chemically identical to the petroleumâ€based fuels they replace. There is no need to blend them with traditional fuels, and they’re produced from recycled organic materials like cooking oil. Approximately 430 million barrels of biofuels are currently produced each year in the United States. Worldwide demand is projected to reach 600 million barrels per year within the next 15 years.
ABOUT THE PROJECT( NEXT for Oregon)
Representing an investment at Port Westward of more than $1 billion, NEXT Renewable Fuels Oregon will be capable of producing more than 37,500 barrels a day of advanced biofuels at initial startâ€up, growing to more than 50,000 barrels a day at full capacity. Both the recycled materials and the finished product will move in and out of the port by ship, meaning little additional rail traffic. More than 200 skilled local workers will be employed onâ€site, ensuring safe and reliable operation. The fuels produced in Oregon will be shipped up and down the west coast and create an emissions savings equivalent to removing more than 1 million automobiles from the road. Currently in the permitting phase, the facility is scheduled to open in 2021. When the facility is complete, NEXT Renewable Fuels will position Oregon as a leader in advanced biofuels production.
