Energy efficiency is the most cost-effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But if the climate goals in the Paris Agreement are to be achieved, the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says that significant amounts of new renewable energy must also be produced. Wind power is ranked as the technology solution that provides the best climate cut effect and the least environmental footprint of all the renewable and fossil ways of making electricity. This is according to both the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
