Pelgas was founded in 1947 by brothers Bruce and Paul Pellett, two World War II veterans who started out by delivering 100-pound cylinders to fuel cooking and heating appliances in rural homes.  As demand for propane grew, larger storage tanks were added to keep furnaces running. And more and more customers added propane appliances, including cook stoves, clothes dryers, fireplaces and generators.  Today Pelgas, Inc. is still owned by the same family, and we have grown over the years to serve residential and commercial customers from Des Moines to Council Bluffs.
