Turbine Intake Discharge Measurement
RennaSonic announces a new technique for measuring discharge in short convergent intakes. Short convergent intakes are often found in low head hydro-electric dams and usually have more than one intake bay for each unit. This video illustrates the deployment of a transducer array in an intake that is submerged. Now you can measure flow in difficult hydraulic applications without the need of unwatering the intake.
Optimization and performance test services
Rennasonic specializes in Field testing services of new or older turbines in hydro-electric power plants. Accurate knowledge the performance characteristics of turbines is vital to operation and turbine upgrades. Without accurate knowledge of existing turbine performance, project managers cannot economically justify rehabilitation or replacement programs.
Experience
Mr. Walsh has designed, installed and commissioned many systems worldwide. The first use of a flow meter and automated data acquisition system was designed by Mr. Walsh and used in the 1980’s at LG-2 in Canada. Since that time, he has designed and commissioned several turbine measurement systems, using both IEC and ASME methods of calculation. The projects Mr. Walsh has performed testing services on are listed below. Mr. Walsh is also the Chairman of ASME PTC-18 and the USA TAG for IEC TC-4.
