Sentry Oil was started in 1982 by Brian and Paula Stidsen. After moving to the small (at the time!) town of Rutland from their home in Worcester, Brian saw a need for a local oil company to serve his new friends and neighbors. Thus was the start of Sentry Oil.   Sentry Oil Service Building Over the years the company continued to grow in size but always maintained the values that Brian and Paula had started the company with. Treat the customer exactly as you would want to be treated, give quality service at fair prices and offer high quality heating oil at competitive prices.  In 2002 Brian and Paula’s son Zach began working for the family business. He started out as an apprentice oil burner technician and oil truck driver and slowly learned the trade and what it entailed. In 2007 the second brother, Nat, came to work for the family business. Today Zach is the Vice President of Sentry Oil, Zach is the Service Manager and Nat is Vice President and Retail Fuel manager. Both sons have learned a lot about what it takes to run a small business and are excited about taking Sentry Oil into the next generation. All the while still maintaining the values that Brian and Paula have been instilling in them since they were young: Treat every customer the way you would want to be treated, always give the best service at fair prices and only sell the highest quality home heating oil at competitive rates.
