Shoshone generates electricity from water diverted from the Colorado River. The water is returned to the river after use. Shoshone Hydro is considered a run of the river plant. This plant is one of the oldest hydroelectric plants in western Colorado that depends upon the river flow rather than captive water from a reservoir.
