How Solar Works
Solar panels are made up of photovoltaic cells that create an electric charge when exposed to sunlight. The panel collects that charge and sends it to an inverter, which is a device that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). The inverter sends the electricity to the electric meter, which sends it to a house or facility for use. The electric meter sends any extra electricity to the electric grid, usually generating a credit with the electric utility. If a solar system is off-grid, then the solar panel DC is sent straight to a battery system. The battery system replaces the electric grid and electric meter, sending the electricity to your inverter, which distributes the electricity to a house or facility.
Optimizers vs String Inverters
- A string inverter system is a standard, but outdated version to engineer a solar power system. Every panel is "stringed" together and then linked to an inverter. This causes every panel in the string to output only as much as the lowest producing panel. If one panel gets obstructed by clouds, snow, rain, dust, leaves, etc. it will be like all the panels are obstructed.

How We Install RV Solar Systems
First, we will sit down with you and discuss what your goals for solar are. We will need to know what critical loads need run and how often. Second, we will need to see what roof space we are working with. We understand that all coaches are different, that is why we take the time to customize each system for you. Each panel is securely placed on the roof and attached with stainless steel fasteners. We use a lifetime sealant to ensure there is no leaking. Additionally, where wires are sent through the roof to the batteries, we place them under a stainless steel box that also utilizes the lifetime sealant and stainless steel fasteners.
