About Company

Sunshine Renewable Diesel can be made from recycled cooking oils, animal fats, or Florida bioenergy crops like Carinata and Pongamia oils. This EPA approved Sunshine Renewable Diesel product meets critical ASTM specifications in the 975 many diesel and 6751 Biodiesel categories making it a new and unique renewable fuel product. It meets all ASTM 975 fuel standards when blended as a performance additive with diesel. It can be used as a “drop in” ultra low sulfur replacement or renewable additive for diesel fuel oils in locomotives, large vessels, and power plants. Commercial trucks and smaller vessels can use it as a cost effective replacement for diesel fuel when used with Sunshine Biofuel’s EPA approved Alternative Fuel Conversion system. The conversion system is used on high speed diesel engines to lower fuel viscosity and assure combustion better than or equal to petroleum diesel. This conversion replaces the need for expensive and carbon intense petrochemicals use in our production process that are required for Biodiesel processing. We in turn pass these savings on to you, the oil company, fleet owner, or power company.

Sunshine Renewable Diesel vs Biodiesel

Sunshine Renewable diesel is similar to Biodiesel. it is made from plant oils and therefore not a hazardous material but it is processed through distillation rather than chemical conversion making it a Renewable Diesel. For big bore low and medium speed Diesel’s or turbines found in locomotives, ships, or fuel oil burners it is the best “drop in” Ultra Low Sulfur Biofuel available. It has twice the lubricity of Petro-Diesel, higher Cetane and the same energy content per gallon. It is also the most cost effective Biofuel for commercial transportation with higher speed diesel engines found in tucks, buses, boats, and small frame generators. For these engines a simple EPA approved patented Alternative Fuel Conversion System is required which can be provided at no or low cost to a equipment owner by Sunshine Biofules.  Biodiesel is made by chemical transesterification which involves expensive petrochemicals like Methanol that make up about 18% of its volume. This process lowers the total energy per gallon by 5-7% compared to diesel and increases the market price per gallon of Biodiesel accordingly. Sunshine Renewable Diesel uses distillation rather than chemicals like methanol to process our product so it is significantly less expensive to produce and provides similar benefits.

The Cost Effective and Green Alternative to Diesel

Sunshine Renewable Diesel is processed from recycled cooking oils, animal fats, and in the future Florida bioenergy crops with our patent pending process. Sunshine Renewable Diesel shares ASTM specifications in both the 975 Diesel and 6751 Biodiesel categories making it a unique renewable diesel product. Sunshine Renewable Diesel reduces as much as 97% of the carbon emissions from the diesel fuel it replaces making it the most effective diesel substitute for carbon reduction. Sunshine Renewable diesel utilizes an efficient distillation process rather than  an expensive and carbon intense chemical transesterification process so we can offer significant savings and higher energy content per gallon to our customers compared to Biodiesel. Fleet owners can save up to 25% of their fuel expenses when using of Sunshine Renewable Diesel with our Alternative Fuel Conversion System. Oil companies can blend it with their diesel fuel to increase lubricity, Cetane, and renewable content per gallon while lowering their expense of fuel and customers emissions overall. Power companies can receive valuable Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Producer Tax Credits (PTCs) when using it while their plants emissions and attaining a premium price per kWh of the resulting renewable energy. Sunshine Renewable Diesel can also help marine fleets comply with Emission Control Areas (ECAs) by acting as a “Drop in” replacement or blending solution to reducing sulfur emissions from ISO 8217 marine fuel oils. Today concerns about global warming, carbon emissions, the uncertainty of global crude oil supply, and the politics of countries where new oil supplies are being discovered, is rapidly strengthening the market for Biofuels. Sunshine Renewable Diesel fuel is not only more environmentally friendly; We also assure energy independence for companies, countries, and are creating new high paying jobs that have otherwise been lost to global competition and automation advances. Of the many Biofuels available, Sunshine Renewable Diesel presents the greatest value to diesel engine owners economically, environmentally, and socially.

Sunshine Renewable Diesel Social Benefits

Beyond our lower production cost, we are a community focused business in the areas we operate. We proudly established veteran preference and equal opportunity hiring policies. We collecting Used Cooking Oil feedstocks from restaurants and food processors as close to our plantas possible, pay top dollar for it, and then delivering the finished fuel as short of a distance as possible to your trucks, boats, fuel terminal, power plant, or non-profit organizations. We are more capital efficient than competitive technologies’  so we do not have to carry large capital debts, long transportation distances, and expensive chemicals used to create each gallon. So we can share our margin with our local restaurant partners and save money for local oil and fleet companies that rely on large volumes of diesel or fuel oil to do their job. We think this model is more sustainable, economically, ecologically, and socially.

Sunshine BioCrude Biodiesel Feedstock

Sunshine Biofuels has recently developed a process to convert low value food byproduct waste streams, like the brown grease found in restaurant grease traps and sewer systems, into a premium Biodiesel feedstock. This technology has been tested with representative brown greases containing up to 95% Free Fatty Acids (FFA) and produced a 1.7% FFA high value Biodiesel feedstocks which will be marketed in 2018 as Sunshine BioCrude. In 2016 the domestic biodiesel feedstock market demand was 1.2 billion gallons of combined virgin oil and reclaimed fats, oils, and greases. 70% of biodiesel producers in the United States used a single base chemical process called transesterification with high priced high-quality virgin Soy, Corn, or Canola to make biodiesel.  The remaining 30%, rely on lower quality and lower cost used cooking oils, animal fats, and greases with up to 15% free fatty acid content. These lower quality feedstocks require a more expensive two-step acid esterification then base transesterification chemical process to produce Biodiesel.  The chemical transesterification process in both types of plants is predictable and cost effective for low Free Fatty Acid (FFA) cooking oils and virgin oils. This has made feedstocks with less than 5% FFA in high demand and driven their prices to a premium. Recently, low FFA feedstocks have sold for prices exceeding the price of diesel fuel.  These low FFA feedstocks are distributed unevenly so the scale of a facilities’ capacity is limited by the availability and cost of this feedstock. Many times, this is the limiting factor for many plants’ success or ability to scale and is frequently the reason they fail when fuel prices drop unexpectedly.  From an environmental perspective, this process is beneficial as it upcycles problematic waste stream into fuels while reducing biofuel production dependence on food crops and the negative political and economic issues that dependence creates.  From an economic perspective BioCrude will allow the Biodiesel plants to increase production volumes, decrease production expenses or both which offers a greater profitability and the ability to weather volatile biofuel market conditions with more certainty.  Today concerns about global warming, carbon emissions, the uncertainty of biodiesel feedstock supply, and the averse effect of inflated commodity prices for corn and soy on human health in developing nations, are rapidly strengthening the market for non food based Biodiesel feedstocks. Of the many Biofuels feedstocks available, Sunshine BioCrude presents the greatest value to Biodiesel refinery owners economically, environmentally, and socially.
