Welcome to Thaler Oil Company, Inc. We supply propane gas, tanks & installation, fuel oil, gasoline, K-1 kerosene, and bulk lubricants to businesses and residential customers throughout the Chippewa Valley and Western Wisconsin. We are a family-owned business and have been serving our customers since we were founded by George Thaler in 1955.  Thaler Oil Company also operates 15 Express Mart locations across Western Wisconsin. Our History 

George ThalerBorn on the North Dakota prairie near a town called McHenry, George Thaler was the oldest of six children. He was only six years old when his father died, and fifteen years old when his mother passed away. George worked 40 hours a week while attending the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, where he majored in math and science, and was president of his senior class. He earned a teaching degree at UW-Eau Claire.  During World War II, George served as a naval aviator from 1942 to 1946.  In 1943, George married Ferne Larson of Eau Claire, and together had three sons and one daughter.

In 1955, George purchased what was at the time a floundering oil business. From one employee and one location, the business has grown to include 150 employees and 15 Express Mart convenience stores. The companys headquarters are still at the original location at 310 South Main Street in Chippewa Falls, WI. Although George Thaler passed away in 2001, his sons Steve and John are continuing in their fathers footsteps by managing Thaler Oil today, keeping Thaler Oil a family-owned, locally operated business.

Propane

We fill propane cylinders at our office in Chippewa Falls from 5#-100# cylinders. You can also fill propane cylinders at our company owned Express Mart convenience stores throughout Western Wisconson. 

Propane Safety: 

Propane (also called LP gas) is liquefied petroleum gas. In most systems, propane is vaporized to a gas before it leaves the tank. Propane is flammable when mixed with air and can be ignited by many sources, including open flames, smoking materials and sparks. Propane smells like a rotten egg smell. If you smell gas, leave immediately and contact a qualified service technician. You should also turn the gas off at the tank. Propane gas detectors can provide additional measures of security.

BULK LUBRICANTS:

We sell Shell Motor Oil including these products: Rotella T, Formula Shell, Aeroshell, Donax Hydraulic Fluid  At Thaler Oil, we supply cases, pail, gallons, drums and bulk lubricants. We also carry some Mobil, Citgo, Phillips, Valvoline and Quaker State products call for our current inventory!  We have also have K-1 kerosene, methenol, isopropyal, antifreeze and windshield washer fluid available at our office.
