VirTex Operating Company,Inc. is an independent energy company engaged in the acquisition, production, exploration and development of onshore oil and natural gas properties in the United States.  VirTex has approximately 50 full-time employees, and the operational, technical, accounting, land and management capacity to succeed in a changing marketplace.  VirTex currently owns and operates approximately 500 wells throughout the state of Texas and the Appalachian Basin, and from 2003 to 2014 has averaged 21 new wells drilled per year. Its success ratio has been high, as VirTex has set pipe on 99% of the wells it has drilled since 2005.

History

Headquartered in Corpus Christi, Texas, VirTex Petroleum Company, Inc. was incorporated in 1984 as a privately held Exploration and Production company to acquire and develop conventional South Texas oil and gas properties. VirTex Petroleum was reorganized as VirTex Producing Company, L.P., in 2007.  The Company has expanded its acquisition program into unconventional resource plays in Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois, Louisiana and Mississippi in addition to those it currently operates in Texas.
