Ray Wessels started the business in October of 1938 when he was hired as a Bulk Station Agent for Mid Continent Petroleum Corporation. He began hauling gas, oil, and fuel to farmers and service stations. In 1938 gasoline was $.15/gallon, kerosene $.10/gallon, fuel oil $.07/gallon, and oil was $.60/gallon.    All gas products were transferred from tank wagon to barrels by five gallon buckets for the first five years of business. The first pumping unit was purchased in 1943.

Propane Delivery Service

Wessels Oil delivers propane for residential, farm, commercial and Church usage. We deliver by bobtail truck or transport load. We also fill 20, 30, 40, & 100lb cylinders at the Palmer location and offer exchanges or new propane cylinders at all of our convenience store locations.

Propane Programs

For your propane needs, we offer a summer fill program, scheduled (Keep Full) delivery based on degree days, and 2 types of contracting. If you choose to be on a scheduled (Keep Full) delivery list, please contact the corporate office in Palmer, IA at 712-359-7712 or 800-426-0016.

Truckwash Services

Our heated truck bay is a spacious 100’x30’ stall. It is complete with a ventilation system, Hotsy system, and long-handled brushes. There are automatic doors on both ends that allow for a 14’ clearance. The wash bay is available Monday through Friday from 7:00am - 5:00pm. After hours and weekends available by appointment.

Outbound Invoicing

We have the ability to e-mail or fax your invoices/delivery tickets. Emailing invoices helps to eliminate lost tickets and you recieve the ticket in a timely manner.

Oil and Lubricants

We offer a wide variety of oils & lubricants varying in sizes from quarts to 55 gallon drums. If you are in need of a specific product that we do not have on hand, we would be more than happy to contact our suppliers to fill your needs.
