APL originally Atkinson Petroleums Ltd. was founded by James Lindy Atkinson in 1967. Atkinson Petroleums Ltd. changed its name to APL Oil and Gas Ltd. in 1973 and again to APL Oil and Gas (1998) Ltd. in 1998 after selling 100% of its shares to Beau Canada Exploration Ltd. APL then developed a new set of assets from 1998 until 2012 in the Wild River area which have since been sold to Tourmaline Oil Corporation in November 2012.APL is currently involved in the exploration of oil and gas in the Kaybob, Grande Prairie and Sylvan Lake areas of Alberta. APL operates and owns the majority of its properties 100%.
