Ottawa Engineering Limited is a Canadian firm established to provide a complete range of consulting engineering services for the assessment, planning, and implementation of small-hydro projects.

Small-hydro engineering constitutes 100% of Ottawa Engineering's work. Since its inception in 1984, the firm has been involved in well over 100 small-hydro projects in Ontario, Quebec, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Involvement ranges from conceptual planning to complete design and construction management. Clients include government agencies, and private- sector developers.

Ottawa Engineering's President, Mr. Kearon Bennett, is an equity partner in two operating small-hydro projects with installed capacities of 300 and 700 kW. His first-hand experience in all aspects of the project's development and on-going operation adds considerable depth to the company's expertise.

Ottawa Engineering Limited can help you conduct a preliminary assessment of a potential small-hydro project.

The service costs CDN$950 (estimate) and provides the following:

• Completed RETScreen® preliminary assessment Excel file (using the Formula costing method).
• Summary report with recommendations and advice on how to proceed with your project including estimates of the costs of doing the required detailed studies and investigations.
• Up to one hour of consultation (phone or e-mail).

To proceed with the analysis you are required to complete the following four steps:

1. Visiting www.retscreen.net to register and get a copy of the latest version of the Hydro model software.
2. Consulting www.retscreen.net for comprehensive information on small-hydro technology and instructions on how to use the RETScreen tool.
3. Using the RETScreen Hydro model, filling in as much of the user-defined information as possible.
4. Sending us the RETScreen file along with site photographs and any other pertinent information (in electronic format or by mail).

We will review the data, contact you with any questions we may have and confirm the cost of the service and the delivery date of the report. The work will begin upon receipt of an initial payment of CDN$300.

You will be notified by e-mail when the report is complete. The report can then be downloaded on payment of the balance owing. (We will e-mail you a download code once final payment is received.)
