SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Troops belonging to the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division have recovered thousands of litres of stolen crude oil and dismantled illegally operating refinery sites during operations conducted during the past one week from April 14 to 20. Over 67,000 litres of stolen crude oil were recovered. Also, 16 artisanal refineries were dismantled and as many as 23 suspected oil thieves were arrested.
Four illicit refining facilities were discovered in Bayelsa State, close to the Adibawa Oando Wellhead. More than 2,500 liters of unlawfully refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and more than 35,000 liters of stolen crude oil were confiscated.

Six artisanal refineries were dismantled as a result of the clearance operations along the Imo River in Rivers State and portions of Abia. Additionally, 30 drum pots, 24 drum receivers, and more than 22,000 liters of stolen goods were seized. Additionally, three suspected buyers and three vendors of stolen goods were arrested as a consequence of raids in the Kula general area. In Delta State, two individuals were captured and their weapons confiscated.
The soldiers were instructed to maintain the momentum of operations by Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 6 Division. The army is dedicated to protecting the area against illicit operations that result in financial losses of millions of euros.
