SEATTLE (Oil Monster): A team from Natural Gas Vehicles Company (Cargas) traveled to Nigeria, looking to expand their business and help boost Nigeria’s use of compressed natural gas (CNG) in transportation.

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, pushed for this initiative in a bid to develop stronger energy ties across Africa and to showcase Egypt’s expertise in the petroleum sector throughout the continent.

The Cargas delegation met with Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, and Egypt’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohamed Fouad. The meetings focused on ways the two countries could work together, especially on converting vehicles to run on CNG.

Ekpo highlighted the importance of finding reliable technical partners to help Nigeria hit its ambitious targets for CNG. He pointed to Egypt’s impressive record in converting vehicles to CNG as a model for success.

The Cargas team also met with heavyweights like the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and the National Automotive Design and Development Council.

Cargas, launched in 1995, is Egypt’s first company that is solely focused on CNG vehicles.
