The detailed plan for development and operation (PDO) of Snohvit Future was submitted to the Minister of Petroleum and Energy on behalf of the Snohvit partnership at a ceremony held in Hammerfest. The project aims to secure operations and secure existing jobs on Melkoya.
The onshore gas compression upgrade plans will extend plateau production and maintain high gas exports from HLNG beyond 2030. The electrification upgrade plans will significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the LNG facility by around 85,000 tonnes per year. The conversion to electric operations will boost efforts to decarbonize the oil and gas production in the country.
The project is expected to strengthen Norway’s position as a reliable and long-term supplier of LNG to Europe and securing long-term operations and gas exports from Melkoya.
