Fitch Forecasts 8% Rise in Egypt Natural Gas Production in 2026

SEATTLE (Oil Monster):Fitch Solutions forecasts that Egypt’s annual natural gas production will increase by 8% year-on-year in 2026 to reach 46.6 billion cubic meters (bcm), rebounding from a decline to 43.1 bcm in 2025, according to a Cabinet statement.

The anticipated recovery is primarily attributed to the resumption of drilling operations at the Zohr gas field and the launch of the second phase of the Raven project. Over the longer term, Egypt’s gas output is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 2.7% between 2026 and 2035. The outlook is further supported by a successful five-well evaluation program at Zohr, which has added meaningful production potential.

Investor sentiment has strengthened following multiple exploration agreements and new drilling commitments by international oil companies in 2025. Additional growth opportunities are expected through upcoming licensing rounds aimed at boosting upstream activity.

To enhance sector liquidity and attract sustained foreign investment, the government has repaid approximately $5 billion in outstanding arrears to oil and gas companies and plans to clear the remaining $1.2 billion by June 2026.
