SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Hon. Abubakar Momoh, The Minister for Niger Delta Development has urged cooperation from international communities to discourage stolen crude oil trade in the global market.
During a meeting with Mr. Ruben Alba Aguilera, Head of Section for Democracy, Governance, and Migration at the European Union, Momoh requested his support on behalf of the international community to help Nigeria curb crude oil theft. Oil thefts will come to a stop if there are no collaborators, he added.

According to Momoh, the intervention by international community in various areas will contribute significantly to the region’s ongoing efforts to curb crude oil theft. Furthermore, he reiterated the government’s commitment to implement programs aimed at bringing economic development to the region in partnership with various agencies. The Minister highlighted the importance of support from international community towards funding and expanding these programs.
Momoh sought technical support in designing and implementing a comprehensive regional development plan and a fully capable tracking system to end oil thefts and acts of vandalism. The government considers peace and security as the most critical factors, as instability in the region could add to economic woes, he added.
