Israel–US Strikes Hit Iran’s South Pars Gas Field; Tehran Retaliates

SEATTLE (Oil Monster):Israel and the United States launched coordinated airstrikes on Iran on Monday, escalating tensions across the Middle East and triggering retaliatory missile attacks by Tehran on Israel and Gulf nations. The strikes reportedly killed more than 25 people and targeted key sites, including the strategic South Pars gas field.

Explosions rocked Tehran for hours, with heavy smoke rising near Azadi Square after an airstrike hit the grounds of Sharif University of Technology. Among those killed was Majid Khademi, a senior intelligence official in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, according to state media and Israeli authorities.

Iran responded with missile barrages, striking the northern Israeli city of Haifa, where casualties were reported. Gulf countries including Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia activated air defenses to intercept incoming threats.

The conflict has intensified concerns over global energy security, particularly around the vital Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes. Donald Trump has issued a deadline for Iran to reopen the strait, warning of severe consequences if Tehran fails to comply.

Meanwhile, mediators from Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey have proposed a 45-day ceasefire to de-escalate the crisis, though both sides have yet to respond.
