SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Pakistan’s state-controlled oil and gas exploration firm Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced that it has discovered a new oil and gas reserve in the country’s Sindh province.
According to Saleem Khan, Field Operations Officer at OGDCL, the discovery was made earlier this month at Kharo at its Faakir-1 wildcat well. It was discovered after drilling to a depth of 4,185 metres. The enormous sand and basal sand intervals were the focus of two drill stem tests (DSTs) conducted in the Lower Goru formation, he continued.

The cumulative test results indicated a production of 6.4 million cubic feet per day of gas and 55 barrels per day of condensate.
An important development from the Lower Goru formation is represented by the discovery. It will result in an extension of the asset's life and further improvement of commercial prospectivity. Additionally, it will enhance OGDCL's and the nation's hydrocarbon reserves base while also making a substantial contribution to closing the energy demand-supply gap through domestic resources.
OGDCL has made two important discoveries in the last year: one in Attock, Punjab, and the other in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. To carry out additional explorations in the nation, the company has been working with private international enterprises.
