SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Poland has urged all EU region countries to stop importing Russian crude oil.
Poland's energy minister, Milozs Motyka, wrote to his EU peers that such a move would stop Russia from financing the conflict in Ukraine. In an effort to put pressure on Moscow to halt its war in Ukraine, U.S. President Donald Trump recently called for the EU and NATO nations to cease purchasing Russian goods.
The European Commission (EC) already said that it had chosen to expedite its member nations' phase-out of Russian fossil fuel imports. Trump stated that if all NATO nations decide not to buy Russian oil, the Russian war in Ukraine will probably cease. Furthermore, China's purchases of Russian oil must be subject to tariffs ranging from 50% to 100%.
Only Slovakia and Hungary still use the Druzhba oil pipeline to receive Russian gas and oil. The EU intends to phase out the import of Russian fossil fuels by the end of 2027 in accordance with the wording of the proposal presented by the European Commission in June of this year.
It should be mentioned that after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Poland's government and state-owned energy corporations ceased importing fossil fuels such coal, gas, and oil from Russia.
