
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): According to media reports, Russia has imposed a temporary suspension of supply of natural gas to Armenia. The gas supplies have been halted for a period of four days starting Monday, in order to carry out planned maintenance on the North Caucasus-Transcaucasia gas pipeline.
The statement issued by Gazprom said that planned repairs will be carried out on the main gas pipeline in the territory of the Stavropol Territory of the Russian Federation from 08:00 on May 1 to 20:00 on May 4. As a result of this, the supply of natural gas to Armenia through the specified gas pipeline will be suspended, it said.

Meantime, Gazprom Armenia CJSC, the operator of the gas supply and distribution network in Armenia, assured that consumers of the republic will be provided with uninterrupted and reliable gas supply during the specified period, by making use of internal reserves.
It must be noted that Russia is Armenia’s key gas supplier, with around 2.6 billion cubic meters supplied during the previous year.
The North Caucasus-Transcaucasia gas pipeline is an operating gas pipeline in Russia, Georgia and Armenia. The pipeline runs from Mozdok, Russia, to Tbilisi, Georgia, and to Yerevan, Armenia. It has a length of 271 kilometers and diameters of 500, 700, 1200, and 1400mm at various points. It has a gas transportation capacity of 12 bcm per year.
