SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Duke Energy announced its intention to apply for permission to construct a new natural gas power plant in Anderson County from the Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSCSC).
Later this year, the business intends to submit the construction application to the PSCSC. Construction is expected to start in the summer of 2027 if approved. Additionally, it anticipates beginning consumer service in early 2031.

The corporation plans to build the factory on over 200 acres in Anderson County, close to True Temper Road on Highway 81 South. The location is favorable for the facility because it is close to existing transmission lines. An estimated 1,400 megawatts of electricity will be produced by the plant to power the local houses and businesses. It is anticipated that the facility's creative design will drastically lower its water needs.
It is projected that the project will generate up to 30 full-time, well-paying employment to operate the facility and an estimated 600 construction jobs during peak construction.
Beginning next week, the locals, property owners, and businesses will have several opportunities to offer their opinions on the facility through events, open houses, online updates, and one-on-one discussions.
