
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Entergy Texas announced that it has secured approval from the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) towards construction of two natural gas power plants.
The proposed plants will have a combined capacity of more than 1.2GW. The construction of the power stations is in line with Entergy Texas’ Southeast Texas Energy Plan. Both facilities are anticipated to come online by mid-2028.
The addition of the plants will help Entergy to advance its efforts towards providing cost-effective, dependable, and sustainable energy to customers and communities throughout Southeast Texas.
The 754MW Legend power station in Port Arthur will be built at an investment of $1.6 billion. It will power more than 190,000 homes and inject approximately $1.79 billion to the regional economy during the construction phase.
In the meantime, the 453MW Lone Star power station near Cleveland, will be set up at an investment of $799 million. It will have capacity to supply power to more than 110,000 homes. Additionally, the plant is expected to generate nearly $951 million to the regional economy.
Together, the power stations will power more than 300,000 homes and will result in the region’s rapid expansion.
