As of December 31, 2024, gas from the first phase of GTA began to flow from wells to the FPSO vessel, according to a news release from the business. Prior to being sent to the floating LNG tanker for liquefaction, the gas was processed at the FPSO to exclude condensate, water, and contaminants. According to the statement, liquefaction has started after the gas was supplied to the floating LNG tanker.
Only once the first LNG shipment is lifted will Kosmos begin to record revenue and produce cash flow from the project. According to sources, BP has already notified the offtaker to prepare for an LNG carrier's arrival later in the quarter so that it can export its first LNG cargo.
The first LNG production at GTA is another significant milestone for Kosmos Energy, according to Andrew G. Inglis, Chairman and CEO of the business, who commented on the accomplishment. He noted that the business anticipates the first LNG cargo lifting during the first quarter as well as the expedited ramp-up of LNG production.
