SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Malaysia's PETRONAS has announced expansion of its long-standing energy partnership with Japan's Shizuoka Gas. The two companies signed a new long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement, reinforcing their commitment to reliable fuel deliveries and regional energy security.
Under the new Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA), PETRONAS LNG Ltd. (PLL), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), will deliver around 0.84 million metric tonnes (MMT) of LNG to Shizuoka Gas over seven years beginning in 2032. The contract is expected to provide the Japanese utility with stable and flexible LNG supplies.
The agreement was formally signed during a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, which senior executives from both companies, including PETRONAS Executive Vice President and CEO of Gas and Maritime Business Datuk Adif Zulkifli and Shizuoka Gas President Yoshitake Matsumoto, attended.
PETRONAS said the latest deal highlights a business relationship that has grown steadily over the past three decades. The signing also coincided with the 30th anniversary of PETRONAS' first LNG shipment to Shizuoka Gas.
Looking ahead, both companies intend to extend their collaboration beyond conventional LNG trade by exploring new initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions across the LNG value chain.
