SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Vanguard Renewables has announced the successful completion of three renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities, marking a major milestone in its effort to convert food and agricultural waste into clean energy. The projects, developed in partnership with TotalEnergies and supported by AstraZeneca, significantly scale up RNG production across multiple U.S. states.
The newly completed facilities—located in River Falls and Eden in Wisconsin, and Amelia Court House in Virginia—collectively deliver nearly 870,000 MMBtu of annual RNG capacity. The Amelia Court House site, situated at a historic dairy farm, represents the final component of the initial three-project portfolio.
The RNG produced will supply AstraZeneca’s U.S. research and manufacturing operations, supporting its carbon reduction goals. In 2025 alone, the partnership generated approximately 33 GWh of renewable energy, with further increases expected as production ramps up.
These facilities utilize anaerobic digestion and advanced waste-processing systems to convert organic waste into biomethane, while diverting significant volumes of waste from landfills. Beyond environmental benefits, the projects create new revenue streams for farmers and strengthen rural economies.
With rising demand for low-carbon fuels, Vanguard Renewables is positioning itself to expand RNG infrastructure nationwide.
