SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Bechtel Energy has awarded a liquefaction equipment order to Baker Hughes, a U.S.-based energy technology firm, for the projected LNG terminal in Louisiana. The final investment decision (FID) for the Louisiana LNG terminal is anticipated sometime next year.
For Phase 1 of Woodside Energy's Louisiana LNG project, Baker Hughes will provide gas technology equipment for two liquefaction units with a combined capacity of roughly 11 million tons per annum (mtpa). The project has a total allowed capacity of 27.6 million tons annually and will include five LNG trains spread across four stages. It had just obtained an extension of its permission from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
The order is towards supply of eight main refrigeration compressors and eight expander compressors.
According to Ganesh Ramaswamy, Executive Vice President of Industrial & Energy Technology at Baker Hughes, the company is eager to work with Bechtel and Woodside Energy to assist the significant project and advance sustainable energy development. In the meantime, Bechtel Energy President Paul Marsden stated that the company is honored to work with Baker Hughes to complete the important project.
It is anticipated that Louisiana LNG would be essential in assisting the global LNG market in meeting its rising demand.
