SEATTLE (Oil Monster):Norway’s natural gas production rose for a third straight month in December, reaching an average of 367.6 million cubic meters per day (MMcmd), the highest monthly output recorded in 2025, according to preliminary data released by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD). Gas sales totaled 11.4 billion cubic meters (Bcm) during the month, up 600 million cubic meters from November, underscoring Norway’s growing role in European energy security. In the third quarter of 2025, Norway supplied 51.8 percent of all pipeline gas imports into the European Union, according to Eurostat.

The NOD has previously stated that Norwegian gas accounts for roughly 30 percent of total EU gas consumption, making Norway Europe’s largest supplier following the sharp reduction in Russian gas flows. The Equinor-operated Troll field in the North Sea, which contributes about one-third of Norway’s gas production, is expected to maintain its leading position over the coming years.

Meanwhile, Norway’s oil production averaged 2 million barrels per day in December, rising 4.6 percent from November and 9.7 percent year-on-year, comfortably beating official projections.
