SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The big German gas and electricity company Uniper stated that it was selling off LIQVIS GmbH, a subsidiary that runs LNG filling stations in France and Germany. EnviTec Biogas AG has purchased 18 strategic LNG filling stations, which it intends to use to sell bio-LNG generated at its plants. In the meantime, the transaction's financial specifics were kept secret.

LIQVIS is an excellent fit for the present production quantities of fuel-grade biomethane, including biomethane from its own plants, according to a joint press release from Jorg Fischer, chief financial officer of EnviTec Biogas. It should be mentioned that in May 2021, the two companies came to an agreement whereby Uniper committed to selling Envitec Biogas bio-LNG at its stations starting in 2022.
The divestment is one of several Uniper has committed to completing before 2026 in order to secure European Commission approval for the company's rescue by the German government. A local Veolia company purchased a natural gas-fired power station in Hungary from Uniper earlier this year. Additionally, it has put its 18.26 percent interest in AS Latvijas Gaze up for bid.
