Uniper, Tourmaline Signed Long Term Natural Gas Supply Agreement

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): A long-term natural gas supply agreement has been signed between Canadian natural gas company Tourmaline and German energy giant Uniper. An eight-year agreement was struck by both parties to supply 80,000 Metric Million British Thermal Units (MMBtu) of natural gas per day starting in November 2028. The contract aims to supply roughly 234 billion cubic feet (bcf) of gas in total.

Tourmaline will supply gas to the ANR SE trade hub in southeast Louisiana, USA, in accordance with the deal.

The deal represents a significant increase in Uniper's ability to source supplies in the North American market.

A few months ago, Woodside Energy and Uniper signed a separate LNG sale-and-purchase agreement for up to 2.0 million tonnes annually (mtpa). It demanded that Woodside's Louisiana LNG production and export terminal, which is presently being built in the US, produce LNG.

"Uniper is happy to close the deal with one of Canada's most reputable gas producers," stated Carsten Poppinga, COO. It significantly diversifies Uniper's LNG supply sourcing portfolio and shows the company's capacity to provide significant international pricing exposure to a valued North American supplier.
